Okay, Much More Positive Now
The driveway is shoveled. It only took us a half hour or so, and just as we were finishing, one of the neighbors came by with his John Deere (complete with attached snowplow!) and took a look up to the garage. He said to Mr. Hot “Well, y’all look like you just ’bout got this licked, dontcha?” (I. Know. I live in Ann Arbor Michigan, but that’s exactly what this guy sounded like!)
I bet he was thinking, “These city-slickers don’t know nuthin’ ’bout shovelin’ no snow likes we get out here in the country. My dawg is bigger than that there tractor he uses to cut the grass.”
We smiled and thanked him for thinking of us, but honestly? Our drive may be 4 times as long as the one we had in Royal Oak, but it’s asphalt - and easier to shovel than concrete. Luckily we’re all healthy and in decent shape. (And other than the shovelful of snow that Shortman “accidentally” threw at my head, we have fun being outside together.)
So, ever since that, and my shower, I’ve pretty much planted my ass on the couch and watched football. Damn Tim Tivo Tebow was supposed to beat Michigan. It’s 41-35 Michigan (I haven’t mentioned my blind hatred for Wolverine football in a while have I?).
We’re going to have stir-fry for dinner tonight, and at some point probably watch “Green Street Hooligans“. (A Christmas present for Shortman - he wants us to watch it with him, and he’s already watched it 3 times this week. It must be good.) The Rose Bowl is on though, so I don’t know what timeline will work.
So, New Year’s Resolutions. Do I make them? Not normally. But this year, I have a couple three, and they are blog-related. Blogolutions, if you will. Yay! Yay for you! Because they are all about my friends - those of you that come here regularly to check in with my adventures.
Ooops, well, the first one isn’t really about you. It’s all about me and my blog. (I’m vowing to be a bit more selfish this year - snirk.)
- A new header every month. I’m enjoying coming up with the little badges I’ve created here and here. It’s an exercise in creativity. So, above you see my January 2008 header. The tagline is something I say (quite frequently) in meetings with the rest of my peers (who are all men, have I mentioned?). It shut them up the first couple of times when they realized that there wasn’t really any, y’know, mud in the conference rooms. “What could she be getting on her boots to make them….oh, never mind. Shit.”
Now for the “It’s All About You” piece.
- My blogroll will be updated monthly. I’m targeting the last day of the month. So, if you read here and I haven’t figured that out yet - please delurk and tell me where you write so that I can add you. I love my readers (and stalk some - but nicely, I promise, not creepy at all [snort]) and want others to love you too.
- My Hotlight of the Month - and I’m really excited about this. My friend Mouse is an indi designer of awesome retro designs and my inspiration for this blogolution. Totes and aprons! The first Highlight of the Month will be “Hot-Crossed Crafts”.
If you are (or you know of) a crafty little hottie that you’d like to share with others, email me with their site information (my email link is up in the right-hand corner) - and the last week of the month I’ll put a post together that will point you all to the wonder that we are. Please get me the information before January 20th (so I have time to do everyone justice). The subject of the Hotlight will change every month - so if you’re not crafty, it doesn’t mean that you’ll never get ‘hotlighted’.
—- So, there they are. My New Year’s Blogolutions. Help me keep them, eh? Licks to you all! —-

HOT LOVE

Having lived and Florida and despised every Florida team - professional or not - I was quite happy that the Gators took the gas. When Florida and Florida State used to play each other, I prayed both teams would come down with food poisoning. It was always a sad event when they didn’t.
The Pro’s Badgers went belly up (against Tennessee, of all things), so we’re flying our flag at half mast.
No snow here. But we do live in hope.
The youngest son called to tell me that he had to stay at a friends house last night because of the coating you guys got last night. Then he was telling me about not going in to work because of the snow, though his girlfriend was going to go to her job. wimp.
Namaste.
I love your blogolutions! What a fun idea! I wish I was technology savvy enough to create a new banner every month…
Blogolutions.. hmmmmm. I like that. Kalisah over at I’m Not My Hair posted about a Matrix idea which made me toss the resolutions out the window and turn them into small, attainable monthly goals. I did wind up putting some blog goals on my little spreadsheet. Yeah, I know - step away from the excel. :::sigh::: I’m the gal who needs to break it down into little lists. Too much and my blonde brain starts to hurt.
Will send you an email this week with a crafty blogger I know of. Glad you are in a good mood.
And that line - I’m sooo borrowing that next time I hear an excuse come from someone’s lips! Love it!
A new header EVERY MONTH? I can’t even get one header. ONE HEADER that is not totally lame. I am amazed. Because your new header rocks.
I still have my Christmas header…. cause I have no clue how to make one and the christmas one was made for me…
Blogolutions…. I like it.
I hope I am one of the people you are stalking, cause I am so stalking you. Especially in those boots.
And I notice I am on your blogroll.
*luffs on you*
Thankyou!
Aren’t you off to a “hot” start this year…taking it month by month…sounds like a plan and you’ve got some hot things up your sleeve…lovin’ the boots..they are very chillin!! If you’re looking for crafty bloggers, I have a large # of them on my art blog…check it out on my profile…esprit * d’art is my arty home!
Wishing you all of the best of everything you wish for during the coming year!
Cute header! Want to make me one?
I like your blogolutions! I didn’t make any this year, since I never keep them anyway!
Those are some great resolutions… err…. blogolutions. I love this month’s header!
Love your new header. Shoveling–well, that’s the best work out there is. Hope your back feels great today;) Men with tractors and attachments, well, they’re a breed apart. I also live next to one. Maybe they’re cousins.
Great idea - see you could totally do 365 - no problem if you have blogolutions! And those wonderful monthly ideas. I keep trying to think of something that I can do as a theme - still not there yet!
Love the boot.
Whats up beyond it?
EWG
LOL
Well, lookit you. Taking right off with this new blog address. Sorry have been MIA. I blame Teh Crazy.
Very cool blogolutions. I’m still suffering from post-celebration/travel fatigue, but will say that I’m loving your new banners. All of them.
Heidi
Are you willing to give blog-header instructions? I’m hopeless.
Great blogolutions and I love the new boot header!
I love your new header! Nothing like an ominous stiletto to put the boys in their place.
Green street houligans is AWESOME! I totally love that movie. LOVE IT!
Oh and it snowed here too… but we have yet to shovel! HA HA HA! The poor mailman and people walking to the train for work…. sorry folks!
Mary said that nothing like a ominous stiletto to put men in their place.
Some men like a challenge, and that is a challenge, not a threat!
One can look at the stiletto of the boot as a threat, I prefer to see the top as a challenge.
ya’lls nuts. ;D no way I’d commit to blogging everyday. lol.
You are way more ambitious than I am… I’m just thrilled if I get out three posts per week!
Nice banner. Like others here, I have to figure out how to do that, yet…
Gee I wish I was technologically clever! Maybe I should make it my mission to get up to speed with these things and shake my blog up a bit. Love the banner or mast head or whatever the bloody thing is called. Blogolutions!!! Now there’s a concept!
I want to be loved! Add me! Add Me!! I rarely get nice stalkers.
