Should I Worry?
— That I’ll probably be losing my job at the same time my stepson is coming to live with us, rent-free, to save money for grad school?
— That two or three times a week, I get these little flashy light objects on the periphery of my vision, usually on my right, but sometimes on my left and that they don’t go away for hours? (And no, I don’t have migraines, and yes, I probably spend 12 hours every day staring at a computer screen.)
— That clicking on something yesterday when Lyvvie invited me to be her friend on Facebook automatically sent emails to 31 people in my address book that also have Facebook pages and now the emails are flooding in from there too? (Add another 2 hours per day on the computer?)
— That the snow that is supposed to start at midnight tonight and end at 7 pm tomorrow is going to bring 10-12 inches of suck-ass snow to Ann Arbor and that we’re supposed to be at a basketball game tonight and a hockey game tomorrow night?
— That we’re only 31 days into Blog365 and….aw fuck. We’re only 31 days into Blog365.
— That there were 5 views on January 28th that came from googling dooce ree sucks and I have nothing against Dooce?
— That also on the 28th, two views were from “lost my virginity” babysitting father. Is it a teenage right of passage that girls lose their virginity while babysitting? (Sorry moms with young ones. You’ll never get another babysitter after your neighbors read that line.)
— That I have a book to finish and get in the mail for SDBBE and I’m only about 40 pages into it?
….. Or should I just start drinking immediately?
—- I have got to get back to actually, y’know, writing, soon. I don’t think I’ll be chained to my desk writing process documents next week. —-

Hmmm… drinking makes the writing of blog posts easier (easier to write, not necessarily easier to read!), but gets in the way of book reading. That’s a toughie!
(You notice that those are the only points which I am willing to acknowledge. The others make me worry too much, too. The drinking is starting to sound better all the time!)

The first time we hired a babysitter for Max, it was our neighbor, a 16 year old girl who seemed nice and responsible. She asked if her boyfriend could come, and since we didn’t have a TV or anything for her to do, I didn’t see a problem with it. Brad, however, told the guy that when we came home we’d be inspecting every inch of Max’s tender flesh for signs of sexual abuse, and that there was to be no sex of any other kind either. I’m not sure who was more embarassed, me or the poor teenagers.

Being a ’specks’ wearer since the age of 10 months old (now nearly 38 years old) - I strongly advise that you GO & GET YOUR EYES CHECKED!!!

I have a couple of friends who have experienced the flashes and/or floaters in their peripheral vision. It’s not unusual and related to the changes in eye fluids as you age. You should see an opthalmologist, but no need for undue worry.
When did “worrying too much” and “start drinking immediately” stop being mutually exclusive?

-LMFAO I lost mine while (you guessed it) babysitting. (Luckily the kid had woke up screaming for her mum, so when Mum was rung to comfort the little one, she ended up coming and picking her up and taking her to whatever party she was at. House to ourselves)

Go get your eyes checked, for real. That happened to me and I had a retinal tear. It wasn’t a big deal, but I had to go back and get it checked every 3 months for a while.
