Showin’ Off Saturday - 2

There’s a Rock Band duo going on in my living room again this afternoon. My darling Dawn has a new Showin’ Off Saturday challenge for today.

And, I’m nothing, if not up for a challenge. Especially since I’m trying not to go sing “Fear the Reaper”, which, y’know, with a sore throat, wouldn’t work Dawn was nice enough to put my little graphic at the top of her post.

So, here I go:

When I’m really pissed off about anything, this song is amazingly cathartic:

When I want some pretty girl pop with a little bit of funky thrown in (which usually means I’m singing in my car):

I saw Chris Duarte for the first time around 1994 - he opened for Robert Cray in Ann Arbor. When I want some good, old fashioned blues guitar, I crank this:

Reliving my youth, I play Motown - especially The Supremes. Although Diana Ross disappointed me greatly in later years, I can still do all of the backup singer moves for this song and Stop, In The Name of Love:

And this song brings me to tears every time. The sound is really low, unfortunately, but I couldn’t find a better version of the video.

—- Make sure you go check out all of the other participants! I’m going to go pick up the microphone and belt out “Orange Crush“. —-

Well aren’t you just the music diva today? I love the diversity on your play list–so many people are just country or just folk or just acid metal these days. Nice to see the well-rounded music afficionado still lurks in Michigan. And online.

Well… I don’t have any singing to brag about today… believe me, my singing is NEVER anything to brag about, lol… but I did get to PET A REAL WOLF today!! Got pics and everything. Tomorrow I am going to go visit him at his home with his friends. Lots and lots of wolves. Is that something to brag about? I am sure the wolves will appreciate it if I DON’T sing to them…

Diverse is right! Love Liz Phair but didn’t think it was possible someone could like Natasha Bedingfield AND Kid Rock (who makes me throw up in my mouth a little bit, actually…but I’m happy for you that you enjoy, me, not so much) and you are representin’ for Michigan with a few of those, what a girl!

I was thinking of throwing a post together on occasion featuring some of my favorite one-hit wonders of the 80s, complete with cheesy video.

Just because it’s a genre that everyone should love, obscure 80s cheese.

Good grief, you’re like the fourth blogger I’ve read in 24 hours who’s posted videos. Did I miss a memo or something?

Don’t you just love the Supremes’ dresses?

Every time I hear that song by Diana Ross I have to sing along. I just can’t help myself. I used to get some very strange looks from my customers at my previous job…..

It is times like this I lament the lack of a sound card in my company desktop. If I remember (which I won’t) I’ll pull this up at home tonight.
