Monday, Monday

Published by Ree at 8:43 pm under Real Life

This morning, I got up at 7:30 (unheard of on a non-work day) so I could make my 9 o’clock appointment to get my roots slathered with enough dye to hide the skunk-stripe of gray that appeared last week touched up.

Then Mr. Hot and I returned the 25-lb plates that he bought on Saturday. Did you know that weight-lifting plates, contrary to what I thought, do not have “standard size” holes in the middle? Well, they don’t. Apparently, the bar that you put them on are not a standard size. Can you tell that we don’t buy more weight very often?

The funny thing was that when we got them home Saturday and discovered this, he brought them back up to the living room and put them on top of the cedar chest - so we could return them today. Then he went back downstairs and “did his arms.” He was laughing about how he couldn’t lift his arms in the shower to wash his hair.

A little later on, we were cleaning the living room and he went to move the cedar chest to plug the vacuum into the outlet behind it. Someone (okay, it was me) had put a blanket on top of the (50 lbs of) weight plates that he’d put on the cedar chest.

The look on his face when he tried to move that thing was priceless. He yelped, “I can’t even lift this damn thing!” Then it dawned on him. He moved the blanket and threw it at me, but missed; I was on the floor laughing so hard I nearly peed my pants.

Annnnywaaaaaay. After we returned the plates, we took Poopy the Puppy for a nice walk, came home, had lunch, did our workouts, read blogs and books, made dinner and ate. Then I printed my boarding pass and packed (yes, Virginia, I DO get to go back to Chicago tomorrow….sigh), and now it’s 7:30 pm. I finally get to sit down and write.

And other than that funny story from Saturday? Not much going on…it’s going to be an early night tonight. Four a.m. comes early.

I did find this picture, however. It’s the day we brought Poopy the Puppy home. May 3, 2003 - he was 15 weeks old. He’s a chocolate lab/daschund mix - all of the intelligence of a lab with the nose (and voice) of a hound.

Sleeping on Mom’s lap - like the little 8 pound baby he was.

This is a picture taken this past November:

Problem is, he still thinks he’s small enough to sleep on my lap. Especially when one of the cats decide that they want that lap.

    He sure is purdy, Hot.
Blogging everyday will guarantee that you don’t always have an interesting story each day. Unless your life is hell.
    Nobody wants that.

He’s such a cute dog! Can I borrow him to terrorize the cat? Have a safe flight and don’t cause too much trouble in Chicago.

    Cute puppy!
I am not really a dog person, although there are some dogs that make me reconsider…
I think I saw one today at the pet store when we bought cat food. A fluffy golden retriever. I had to leave the store because my defenses were melting away!
Thinking all the while, “can’t have a dog if we take long summer trips, can’t have a dog if we take long summer trips, …”

You are doing so well with this blogging every day thing Hot. There is no way in hell I could do it so kudos to you.

Your puppy dog is adorable. My favourite thing about being an Avon lady is all the dogs I get to see on my round. There are some customers I would like to “drop” from my list but then I wouldn’t get to see their dogs and that just wouldn’t do. Dogs are my favourite kind of people if you hadn’t already guessed.

Have a safe flight and don’t work too hard :)

Something there about “lab/dauschund” mix does not compute, lol. He’s a gorgeous dog though. We had a jet black lab when I was a kid. She just showed up at the house one day and hung around. Dad tried to run her off but she decided we were her family. Couldn’t find anyone who was missing one. She would get out of the back yard no matter what we did, and would lay on the front porch, chasing away anyone who came near the house if it wasn’t family, including the mail man. Dad started finding these wadded up notes the mailman was tossing up onto the front porch “Your dog won’t let me in the yard.” He finally decided to try “introducing” her to the mailman, and believe it or not, all was well, lol. She just had to know that the mail man was ok I guess. Us kids named her Susie. (dunno why; but we had a poodle for a long time and her name was also Susie. I guess we had no imagination.) Dad called her Dumas. His polite way of saying “dumb ass”. She was smart in some ways but for the most part she was dumber than a freaking rock, lol.

I didn’t know you had a dog! When I see unusual breed mixes such as chocolate lab/daschund, I always wonder what a big dog and a small dog saw in each other. Most of all, I wonder how they did the deed.

Whoo, I’ve spent too much time watching dogs at the dog park.

    Your doggie’s very sweet!

I could take 22. I expect these are average 5 year olds, not Children of the Corn 5 year olds. How about you?
