Looking at the Moon

Published by Ree at 11:09 pm under random thoughts

- Not someone’s bare ass, but the lunar eclipse that is happening outside my window. I’m on the 28th floor - so it looks damn close.

- I’ve got the television on for background noise, and I just heard an advertisement for a new television show called “Ax Men”. They were talking about logging. I heard “blogging.” Almost pulled a muscle in my neck whipping my head around to find out who was blogging in the woods.

- Met Kristabella for dinner tonight. We ordered three appetizers to split. Swiss Fondue, Dipping Straws (fried bread) and a fruit & cheese plate. Y’all? Piles of food. (Not to worry, we managed to do a pretty good job of eating it.) And hey, fruit! If you ignored the bread, fried bread, and bread, it was pretty healthy!

- It’s so damned cold in Chicago. And I can’t find where I threw my gloves when I came in. It’s really going to suck if I can’t find them in the morning.

- Mr. Hot and Shortman bought an American Idol game for the PS2. When I called home, they were singing Gladys Knight and the Pips. I hate talking on the phone. I hate talking on the phone when the person you’re talking to is carrying on a conversation with someone else who is in the room with them.

- The channel button on this remote control sticks. And I don’t know any of the channels, so I have no choice but to press “channel up” to surf. I want to throw it through the window.

- I’m watching House Hunters - and these people are looking at homes priced at $1,600,000. No, that’s not a typo. Over 1.5 MILLION! (To make matters worse, they are Michigan grads and have to have an extra room just to display their Wolverine shit.)

—- Okay, enough bitching. Now, don’t forget to send me your Hotlight sites for Photography. It’s getting darned close to the end of the month, and I have to have time to go through and come up with something witty and intelligent to say about them so I can share them with you all. Get me the link (you can leave it in the comments or email me) by the 25th! —-

Cheese, chocolate, coffee and Choo’s….. me sees a debilitating C obsession. Do you?

(and you are meeting other bloggers behind my back? Why aren’t you saving your pennies to come and see me? *sob* feeling so unloved….)

I’m looking at the eclipse too. And thinking of you, seeing the very same moon. And, well, other absent friends who are united in rubber necking the phenomenon as well.
I tried to take a picture, but bleagh.

House Hunters depresses me when they show people with that amount of money. Aak.

I forgot to look at the moon and I was even driving home from a late meeting! Double aak.

Photography sites - have I mentioned one of my good friends is a GREAT professional photographer?

Her site is http://www.brendaekchardt.com. She has two blogs - one for her regular photo sessions, and the other for her high school senior pictures. Great blogs - you can link to them off of her home page.

BTW - thanks for telling the story of your sister’s marriage. Very interesting!

I was all excited about the eclipse after Paul Harvey told me about it yesterday at noon. And then I completely forgot all about it like 10 seconds later.

You can’t go wrong with cheese, bread and booze! And great company! Great to see you!

That eclipse was cool. Mr. T and I enjoyed it from the playroom window which had a similar view–we could have reached out and touched it. At about the same time our military was busy trying to shoot up stuff in outer space. I wonder if anyone working at the Pentagon was torn away from their war games to stare in amazement at Celestial beauty.

I called a friend of mine yesterday, and he was in the room with another friend of ours. I was asking for some advice, and he then asked the other friend, and the two of them had a 10 minute conversation about what advice to give me, while I sat there going, “What?” “Wait, was that for me?” “I can’t hear what he’s saying!”

When I finally complained, my friend said, “We’re all having a conversation.”

And I informed him he was the only one having a conversation. I was having a migraine.

That eclipse was somethin’ else last night.

While you and Kristabella were having cocktails, sadly, I learned “One should not eat too much sushi. One will be sick for hours”. Well, it was a tough lesson to learn, but a gal survived. Leave it to me to celebrate my new “volunteerism” by picking up my favorite sushi and adding a Corona to the mix.

I wanted to see the eclipse so bad, but sadly for me it was so cloudy I didn’t even get a peek.

WRT the remote control, try unscrewing it, to remove the cover, and blowing some compressed air in it. Or you might find that some soda has been spilled on it at some point, and that’s what’s causing it to stick. A moist q-tip will help in this instance.

Or you could do what I once did, which was to get some warm water (no soap) and an old paintbrush, and scrub away at the keys. A few days in a warm place, and it was as good as new.
