March MeMe
After the sheer volume of memes that I did during NaBloPoMoFoShoYoHoHo (and a bottle of rum), I swore that I would limit myself to one per month during Blog365. So, yay - todays the day. (Hear that enthusiasm in my typing?) I’ve been tagged.
By RC of Hill Smith Family:
Five Fours
4 Jobs I’ve Had:
- Playground Leader
- Veterinary Assistant
- H.R. Benefits Administrator
- Information Technology Manager
4 Places I’ve Lived:
- Dearborn, Michigan
- Royal Oak, Michigan
- St. Albans, West-by-Gawd-Virginia
- Huntington, W-b-G-V
4 Places I’ve Vacationed:
- Ft. Lauderdale, Florida (This is the only one in the last decade. Sigh.)
- Lexington, Kentucky (Horse farms in the Fall. Beautiful and Peaceful)
- Bozeman, Montana (Skiing. Blech.)
- Paradise Island, Bahamas (The worst sunburn I ever had, in my entire life. My forehead SWELLED and I couldn’t wear my glasses, effectively rendering me blind. Blind in Paradise. Yep.)
4 of my Favorite Foods:
- Salmon (or any kind of fish)
- Enchiladas (with a side of Margaritas)
- Stuffed Grape Leaves
- Hummous with Pine Nuts and Lamb
4 Things I Like to Do (I’m amending this to say “alone”, because anything with Mr. Hot or Shorman generally trumps these):
- Read
- Write
- Crochet
- Ride Horseback
********lalalalalalala********
Shelly at Not The Daddy tagged me for essentially the same meme, so I’m only doing the ones that are different (because I haven’t really lived or vacationed 8 places and well, I’m just lazy):
4 Movies I’ve Watched Over and Over:
- The Wizard of Oz (and I can sing every song in it)
- The Sound of Music (ditto)
- Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the original only)
- Lord of the Rings (the entire trilogy has been watched multiple times)
4 Shows I Watch:
- Any Sports Event in Season
- Dream Team (A show about a soccer team….)
- And, Um, hum…….
- Any Sports Event in Season! (You see a really sad pattern, don’t you?)
4 Places I’d Rather Be Right Now:
- Amsterdam in the Summer (i.e. not working)
- Bed (with warm blankets)
- At a quiet restaurant with Mr. Hot, candles and wine (sigh…..I need a date night)
- Australia with Gypsy, Kelley and we’d bring Veronica in from Tasmania (Or in Tasmania with Veronica and we’d bring Gypsy and Kelley in)
4 Things I Look Forward To This New Year:
- Figuring out what I want to be when I grow up
- My stepson moving in with us (Yes, he really is - in May)
- Spring (if it EVER gets here) and planting my garden (I’m going to try to grow cauliflower this year)
- Bike rides through Ann Arbor after the students go home (because otherwise, you can’t get through the streets)
********lalalalalalala********
Then Mary, at My Piece of the World tagged me with the “Seven Random Things” thingie. So,
teh rulz:
- Link to the person who tagged you
- Post teh rulz on your blog
- Share 7 random things about yourself
- Tag 7 people (I’m horrible at following this rule just so you know!)
- Leave a comment on their blogs so they know they’ve been tagged
Alright. Here goes nothing.
- I have a freckle on the inside of my right calf. You could cut my leg off and throw it in a trash heap, and people who know me would know it’s my leg because of that freckle.
- I faint very easily. Especially if someone else’s blood is involved. I can deal with my own, but don’t show me yours. (The best reason I had for not going to Medical School, dad)
- I hate talking on the phone with a passion. Hate.It. I spend 3-4 hours of my work day on the phone and it sucks the life right out of me. (Except if you call, of course! Then I would just be all happiness and light! snort.)
- I used to make spending money by taking my horse to birthday parties in the neighborhood subdivisions (which were springing up like weeds in Canton, Michigan in the late 70s) and giving rides to the kids at the party. Most of them had never been close to a horse before. (And the parents loved the piles in their yard.)
- I sleep with socks on year ’round. I sleep with a blanket on the bed year ’round. I must have the weight of the blanket on me to fall asleep. Even I don’t get the socks thing.
- When Shortman was born, he ripped me so badly that it took the doctor 4 hours to sew me back together. During that time, I had no epidural because the needle had come out of my back and the drug had run down the outside rather than into me. So, yes, that sucked. Really fucking bad.
- I smoke three cigarettes per day. Sometimes 2. Rarely 4. Never more than 4, and never before 5 p.m. - unless it’s summer and I’m sitting outside. I’ve been known to smoke 5 or 6 in a single day. It’s a stinking, filthy, health-zapping habit. And yet, I’m not interested in quitting. Yet. So shush.
—- Remember how I said I’m bad at tagging others? I meant it. But, by all means, please feel free to grab this and tell us 7 things about you. Because then we can point and laugh right back! —-

HOT LOVE

I didn’t even know you smoked.
And I LOVE The Sound of Music!
Kristabella’s last blog post..Things I’m Wondering
You poor darlin about the birth thing. It’s a wonder you ever let Mr. Hot near you again.
witchypoo’s last blog post..Embarrassing Moment
I’m just picturing you leading all the little playgrounds around. I bet you were a good playground leader!
Erin’s last blog post..Roosday-Tuesday ? Wherein Our Hero Chats with Mommy
The sunburn sounds nasty. I once got sunburnt on a nudist beach. I don’t like to talk about it.
Solomon Broad’s last blog post..Things I’m Grateful For on Tuesday 4 March
I won’t admit, being a man’s man, how much I loved Sound of Music, or how many times I’ve seen it.
And ouch…that sunburn sounds bad.
Hank’s last blog post..Some People Should Simply Not Wear Some Outfits
Okay Ree..
Explain Playground LEADER to me please.
Thank you very mucho.
Julie’s last blog post..Movie Meme
a playground leader huh? some how i just can not picture that. at. all.
zoe’s last blog post..Windy City Wimp Out
The hills are alive over here in the northland, honey. I don’t know how you did that. I can’t even forward a chain letter and the single meme I scribed darn near killed me.
Minnesota Matron’s last blog post..Wait, There’s More
I sleep with socks on year round, too. AND I need a blanket year round, as well. Which means we could share a be….which means I just went too far, huh?
MY POINT WAS…I kick off the socks in the middle of the night, every night, and never remember when I get up that I had socks on to start with. After 32 years. I never remember, at all, until when it’s time to change the sheets and I pull the comforter back and a mob of angry, smelly socks flies out and accosts me.
PS: I am still swooning from yesterday and formulating a proper sort of thank you. Be warned.
Mr Lady’s last blog post..Really? A not fabulous post.
I am glad you smoke, well not glad but you know what I mean. I smoke and have for years. I actually like it. Sick but there it is. And what is a playground leader? Is it like a hallway monitor but outside?
If you ever make it to my neck of the woods (closer than O’Hare, at least), we make some fantastic enchiladas, and would be happy to share! You bring the margarita mix!
RC’s last blog post..It’s a bouncing baby blog!
Oh sweetie! You are just so cute I just want to eat you up!
Yeah, WTF? I have been locked in this freaking house with a million phone calls of the ‘help me my life is falling apart kind’ and I have tried to be sweetness and light.
And it is fucking hurting my brain.
You get your sweet arse down here babe and we will go shoe shopping, even if I have to stuff the stupid freaking toe into the shoes.
And then drinking. Lots of drinking. I need some drinking babe, and you would be my gal.
Kelley’s last blog post..I am so a Domestic Goddess….
I’m glad you admit you don’t get the socks either. That has to be the weirdest thing about you (and I read the whole post;))
Melissa’s last blog post..Quarrantine!
Hopefully Kelley will get on board with this idea, but let’s all go down to Veronica in Tasmania. I have never been there and always wanted to go. Bring Shortman and our respective daughters can fight over him.
I don’t wear socks to bed nor do I have a blanket on in summer. It’s pretty fuckin hot here ya know. I never sleep as well though as when I have that lovely weight on me (the blankets I mean…sheesh thought I’d better clear that up right away). I feel all exposed or something and silly as it sounds…..vulnerable.
Loved your answers Hot, you always make me laugh.
Gypsy’s last blog post..I’m open for dinner invitations…..
I do socks some nights. Not all the time. But my issue (I know I have many) is that my feet have to be warm otherwise it takes FOREVER for me to fall asleep. Now my other trick is that I have my own blanket and DH has his own blanket as well (yeah, we might as well have twin beds), but I have to tuck the ‘foot of the bed’ portion of my blanket under my feet and sometimes that is enough. Oh, and I don’t do it all year round! I smoke too
You do much better than I do though!
Wbppsh7’s last blog post..Good Sunday
Australia has always topped my list of places I’d rather be. Dunno why because you’d have to drag me kicking and screaming onto the airplane to even get there. And at that point I would be safe from the certain death I know awaits me on one of those big stupid coke cans with wings because somewhere in there HSA would swoop in and haul me off to the loony bin. But it would be ok. Anywhere is better than on an airplane.
flutterby’s last blog post..Today I am ashamed…
Hey! I had stitches without any anesthetic either - but not four hours worth! I did lose the labia on my right side though so I often refer to my girl bits as FrankenFanny (fanny in the UK are the girl bits, not the bum) Oh the joys of TMI! but since you shared…
I also must have a blanket of some sort to fall asleep. No blanket and I can’t get there, and a topsheet doesn’t cut it. I only need socks in the winter; don’t your feet get awful sweaty in summer?
I used to do the three smokes a day thing, and then one day last July, I just didn’t fancy having one anymore. No reason, just felt icky. I haven’t had one since. I’m not saying I’ll never have one again, I’m fairly certain if someone offered me one I’d be excited and go “Yeah, sure! Thanks!” because no matter how long I go without smoking (The longest was five years) I know I’ll always be a smoker. For some reason, that makes it easier not to smoke most days, if that makes any sense.
Lyvvie’s last blog post..Just chatting about my garden, the weather, kids and my new sneakers.
I’m stuck on #6 in the 2nd list. Because, ouch.
Great lists.
Jennifer H’s last blog post..Rope tricks (or, I’ve been tagged)
Hey! That was awesome! Like one giant meme. Thanks for the link. : )
The birth thing sounds awful. Just simply awful.
And I have to disagree with you on The Sound of Music. Can’t stand it.
Shelly’s last blog post..The Five Facts Meme - It’s Not a Cop-Out!
Bozeman, MT? Wow. I drove through there on our way from WA to NH two years ago and we warned by two gas station attendants to watch out for the Mexican Mob.
And stuffed grape leaves? Hummous? Mm. Add baklava in there somewhere and I’m so in.
barbetti’s last blog post..Hillary is Mom Jeans
I, too, was burned almost beyond recognition in Paradise Island. Are you absolutely SURE we’re not…oh never mind. Sigh.
Candy’s last blog post..Yes, I’m actually asking for ass-vice.
I loved reading your Memes (Meme’s?) (MM’s?)! I am so bad at playing along, no one tags me anymore :)…thank Goddess. But I do enjoy reading others. I always feel very unpopular when I can’t think of 8, or even 6, or really even 4 people I can tag. Who started these anyways??
“I sleep with socks on year ’round. I sleep with a blanket on the bed year ’round. I must have the weight of the blanket on me to fall asleep. Even I don’t get the socks thing.”
That is so funny! So do I! I even sleep with a heavy feather blanket in the Summer, sweating away any ice cream I eat, because I need the weight on me. My dh has volunteered to take care of that, but then I get no sleep….
GoddessintheGroove’s last blog post..Is he buried in the backyard?
oh, and stuffed grape leaves..YUM!! Especially with a healthy side of Ouzo!
