We Survived the Weekend….

Published by Ree at 11:41 pm under Fashion, Travel

… and so I went shopping. Since I still had today off and oh mah holy hell people - enough with the togetherness already - I went down to the local strip mall (sigh - I miss my old mall) and hit Dress Barn and DSW. Three hours later, I called Mr. Hot to tell him I was still alive and heading home. “Get your sweet ass outside and be ready to help me carry in my haul,” were my exact words, I think.

I found a couple of floaty tops - very springy. A blue/black/white one and a gray/black/white version. They probably make me look pregnant, but they’ll be nice for working from home - not too dressy but more “work inducing” than my usual sweats/t-shirts and shorts. (What? You don’t think that’s a valid excuse for buying new tops? Snirk.)

And these:

pinkgray.jpg

Gray pants, black ballerina neckline t-shirt and crinkly pink/black/cream and gray overblouse. I have a cream colored sleeveless tank to wear underneath this, too, but since it’s still flippin’ winter around here, I’m going with black.

redblack.jpg

Black Slacks and a red self-belt cowl neck. I have a great red/white/black scarf to wear with this (I may replace the belt with the scarf). I’m never sure how to do the cowl neck though. Mine always look more like an overstretched turtle neck.

bluelilac.jpg

Navy slacks. I’ve had the argyle sweater and the lilac t-shirt that I’ll wear underneath it. The sweater was a gift from my sister-in-law (aka The Bitch Who Stole Christmas) for…Christmas(!) several years ago. I love the pants - they have 4 buttons on each hipbone - like sailor pants. (And the plaque to the left? Says, “Kiss Often, Lips Never Wear Out.” Just in case you were wondering. Snort.)

———————

Why yes, I am packing to go to Chicago, thank you very much! I leave at six-fucking-fifty a-in-the-m tomorrow morning. Let the whining commence. (And considering Mr. Hot just brought me a glass of lovely Chardonnay, let the wine-ing commence, too!)

Oh, and for Kelley and Lys and Candy and CookieBitch and the rest of my shoe whores:

ninewest.jpg

Nine West. I love the straps - and the heel is black patent - while the rest is black leather. Yum.

- And -

classictie.jpg

The box says “Crown Vintage”. I love these. They’re gorgeous and comfortable. They were $79.99 - but on clearance - 30% off. The thing is, I can’t find “Crown Vintage shoes” anyplace. I was trying to Google the name because I fell in love with these and other pairs I saw there, but they don’t seem to actually exist. And I’m not the only one looking!

I only got black shoes this time because my normal two pair need to be tossed out now. I did scope out a beautiful pair of green patent flats and red patent slingbacks that I may just go back for the next time I need some “Me time.”

—- Okay y’all. Car reservations made. Boarding pass printed. Clothing packed. Wine glass filled. O’Horror? Bring it, mutha. I’m ready. —-

Ok - I’m not one for biting a buddy’s style but those shoes - the 9West ones - they are soooo making room in my closet in Florida. I think I need to hit up the local DSW and spend a little “me me” time tomorrow because the shoes I found today were severely tacky! I think I embarrassed the gal at Aldos when I showed her how cheaply the $110 platform ombre pumps were made. I really think I need a muzzle when I shop sometimes *LOL*

    Fabulous shopping haul, Ms. Hot!!!

Ha! If I ever meet you, I am going to steal that Nine West pair! *sob* I can’t wear such pretty shoes any more. My knee is screwed…literally. There’s a two-inch scree under my left knee coz it kept getting dislocated. And now I get high on ogling at such shoes and trying them on and walking a couple of tottering steps before I smile and return them to the shoe salesman and head in the direction of virtually flat pumps while trying not to burst out in tears!!! At least I don’t work from home any more so I do indulge in some guilty shoe pleasures. Earlier, I didn’t even need dressy shoes so my entire shoe wardrobe consisted of 3 pairs. *shudder* Will someone ever make sexy hot shoes with not-so-high heels so I can wear them? Apologies for the rant…but that picture just completely unhinged me! Oh, and please keep posting more of these pictures. I’m a shoe perp! There, I admit it.

  17. Wbppsh7on 11 Mar 2008 at 12:29 pm

I too, agree - Luv’it, Luv’it, LUV’IT on the the 9Wests’. I have totally falling in love with that style of shoe. However…(ugh), my already almost 6′-ness makes me TOWER over ALL my co-workers. (Note to self: I must learn to use vertical intimidation to my advantage - lol). Love the clothes too! You will Hot working in the Hottie house.

    Dammit, I love those shoes!

And I know exactly the tops you’re talking about. I love Dress Barn, but their current line gives me a prominent belly, even more so than the one I started out with. Still…love ‘em. So purty!

An outlet mall in our area just opened up a Coldwater Creek outlet store - - a friend of mine went there this weekend and got LOTS of great stuff - - so I think some “me time” is needed soon, so I can go over there and stock up . . . she was finding skirts, slacks and blouses from $4.99 and up!

She said they had some bitchin’ shoes, too! :-)

My younger pill baby sister works at Nine West corporate in NYC. She gets em at cost. They are all over the place, and they have other show lines as well. To me, if its pointy on heel and toe, then that is nice. i love heels, and the things that stand on them, legs, and well, other places not to far up from there LOL.

    Have fun in chi town.

I have to agree with Nine West, they do great boots. Although I’ve not owned any for eons - I’ve become a sneaker slob.

Would you hate me if I told you I didn’t like the argyle sweater? It’s boxy and shapeless. You have shape - show it off. How can the same Sexy woamn wear the belted “Lookit my rack!” red turtleneck, and then the argyle? Besides, sailor trousers are hot but what’s the point when the sweater covers the detail?Speaking of the turtleneck, don’t swap out the belt - keep it one colour and it’ll be a long-n-lean look. Put a patterned scarf there and it’ll break up the lean silhouette.

You need a 3/4 length London Fog styled belted Trench coat. Oh this is fun, can I go shopping with you next time?

RE: Crown Vintage — I just bought a pair of cute Crown Vintage shoes at DSW that are an exact clone of the Jeffrey Campbell shoes I’d been eyeing (which in turn are a pretty direct Chie Mihara knockoff) — the orange lining is the same, everything, only the brand name is different. And the name of the shoe style on the box, “Joel,” is the same name as the Jeffrey Campbells. So I’m guessing Crown Vintage and Jeffrey Campbell are somehow related.

  32. Alexaon 27 Apr 2008 at 4:32 pm

Hi. I have a pair of Crown Vintage that I LOVE! DSW made a mistake and only charged me $25! They are the most comfortable shoes ever. As far as I can tell, they are a subclass in the Born brand (the crown logo is identical to Born’s crown).

  33. brieon 21 Aug 2008 at 1:33 am

Love the Crown Vintage brogues!! I saw those at DSW but couldn’t get them & have since searched everywhere. I think Crown Vintage is Jeffrey Campbell as well. JC had some cute brogues that were very similar but a shorter heel - so I opted out.

Can’t believe you got them at a discount!! Great taste ;)
