The Sweatshop?
If I’m a blogger, am I at risk of dying earlier?
Growing numbers of home-office laborers and entrepreneurs, armed with computers and smartphones and wired to the hilt, are toiling under great physical and emotional stress created by the around-the-clock Internet economy that demands a constant stream of news and comment.
Really? Don’t worry, this is going to prevent me from ever having a heart attack while blogging having a money making site:
Speed can be of the essence. If a blogger is beaten by a millisecond, someone else’s post on the subject will bring in the audience, the links and the bigger share of the ad revenue.
Because, y’all? I’m way too slow to catch things as soon as they hit the wire. Look, as it is, I’m linking to a link of a link.
—- And with 362 new posts in my feed reader, I bet I’m not the only one posting this today! More later, but definitely not on this subject. —-

I feel the pressure. But I also know that if I step away and go outside, it will be there when I come back and the world will not end if I don’t read all my feeds and comment on every post.
But that doesn’t keep me from spending my entire Saturday reading blogs.
Kristabella’s last blog post..Surprise!
Human beings love new information. We’re wired to, to cope with the environment. We just have more access to a lot more of it now.
Solomon Broad’s last blog post..The “Things I’m Grateful For” April Contest
I saw that too. Hmmm, maybe that sore throat is something worse!
Actually, I quit blogging for a while when it started to seem like a chore rather than a release. I can’t imagine if my livelihood were dependent on my breaking stories milliseconds before others.
Frankly, I’d just start making stuff up. Hey, did you hear that Tom and Katy broke up? You can read all about it on my blog.
Hank’s last blog post..Tagged
I don’t take my blogging seriously enough to lose years of my life, I think. (Phew!)
Laurel’s last blog post..Come to Jesus
Just a hobby for me, if it stops being fun I’ll just, you know, STOP. And by the way? Yours is the third blog I’ve read so far today mentioning this topic. Which I hadn’t heard about until I read blogs written by people WAY quicker than me. Sheesh.
Fannie’s last blog post..ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK
Sometimes, I really hate GoogleReader.
True story.
Deutlich’s last blog post..My Heart Aches
Oh, hey, I’m talking about that, too. From a different angle, though…
suburbancorrespondent’s last blog post..How To Get More Me-Time
I saw this and was going to write about it later in the week. That’s what I get for waiting. Now I’m stressed out because you did it first. And crap, I already have a bad heart!!!!
Michael C’s last blog post..Uh, Um, Gulp, Ahem, Well…
I figure I’ll lose interest in my blog long before it causes me to have a heart attack (I hope).
marlee’s last blog post..Guess I Set My Hopes a Little High…
My thinking is, if I DON’T blog, I’ll have a heart attack

flutterby’s last blog post..Really Bad Mom-ness
I saw something about this yesterday, but it looked like they were talking about people like Perez Hilton who have to update their sites 20-50 times a day to keep people interested. No thanks!
Memarie Lane’s last blog post..Memarie Snopes
I hope I never become so wrapped up in Cyberland that I work myself into a tizzy. That’s when a hobby becomes er, a problem (read: addiction) and immediate attention is required (read: intervention).
Melissa’s last blog post..Miracles, Means & Methadology in Modern Education
Yeah, I’m not nearly as addicted to blogging as a lot of people seem to be. I have absolutely no problem walking away from it on Friday, to return on Monday, and I really don’t give it a thought over that weekend. I am a little troubled that I haven’t written anything of substance in about ten days, but hopefully something will spark soon. Otherwise, this entire comment will be moot.
Candy’s last blog post..In case you were wondering?
I don’t think blogging is unhealthy. I think that many people who blog are inside more, spend more time on the computer…. etc.
Do you exercise a few days a week? Do you eat healthy?
If so, you have nothing to worry about.
