Do Good, Part Deux
Please go read Catherine’s post. She’s been through so much this week already, what with having a bunch of internet weirdos saying she’s a bad mother? (Oh, wait, she calls herself that. Well, they were way over the damn line.)
—and—
You are my Inspiration - It’s sad that I didn’t have very many women available to mentor me when I was getting started in the business world. Don’t get me wrong, the women I knew early on (in the ’80’s y’all….) taught me things. Mostly what NOT to do. (Especially the bitch who called me “abrupt, abusive, and abrasive”! Can you fuckin’ believe it?) But since then, I’ve been in mentoring programs - both as a mentor and as a mentee (try to say that word without snorting - I always think of a very fat, blubbery sea mammal) - and the experiences are invaluable.
—- Now, Mr. Hot is cooking ribs on the grill, and my only contribution is to clear off the table, which means I have to shut down the laptop. Please do good my darlings. Whether than means a contribution or a link - do whatever you can. —-

HOT LOVE

I just had a mental image of a manatee, wearing the boots, trying to swim about.
A very stylish manatee…

Thank you for plugging YouAreMyInspiration!! I’m going to owe you a dozen at the rate I’m going.
Commenters, I’m trying to get people to spread the word about YAMI, so please share with your readers too! All funds raise go towards the underserved teen girl programs in Los Angeles, NYC, and Chicago
Hotfessional: Also, your indirect mention of manatees makes me want to share this news item

I want to hang with Pierre, who is rocking that wetsuit.
I’m losing my mind. . . did this submit? Am I an annoying broken record commentator?

Will definitely look into those this week (when I’m supposed to be working *ahem* SUPPOSED to be is the key phrase)…
You HAD to go there with the manatee reference, didntcha?

I am so lucky to have two terrific mentors to work with right now. Unfortunately, my experience up until now in working with women has lived up to every stereotype out there.
I bet you are an awesome mentor! Your manatees are lucky.

Went to Catherine’s site; very sad what her sister and family are experiencing. Sadly, I have lost 5 friends to MD during my lifetime, 3 of whom were youngsters. For a number of years (10-12) before coming down here, I was the volunteer event photographer for a local MDA charitable event in SW WI. One of my 17 years of EMT calls was to help a dying MDA patient at his home to try to breathe better during his last hours. It was a hard call to be on. Thanks for mentoring others, too!

I have a friend with a son with this. Absolutely heartbreaking. The sucky thing about having a child with a disability is I am surrounded with stories like this.
In a world where we can solve ‘problems’ in the bedroom with a little blue pill or wrinkles with botulism, why are children still suffering?
No cash in cures methinks.
(sorry been a hard day and I am a little pissed at the world)

Just one more addition to my list of of *Why I Hate *people*. You know the ones I mean… the ones who think they can pass judgment on people they don’t even know. The ones who think they are so perfect yet probably so lacking in their own lives that they only way they really have of making themselves feel important is by belittling others… others they don’t know. I am not talking about general poking fun at people like so called celebrities or someone’s really bad shoes. I am talking about the ones taking potshots at her for her blog and what she does. She might be writing but she’s HOME while she writes. I would bet you any thing most of the ones posting those hateful comments are doing so out of envy and downright jealousy that she’s home with her child while theirs are being raised by barely minimum wage day care workers.
Kelley: The *little blue pill* and wrinkle bullshit? Pisses me off more than I can express without totally hijacking Ree’s blog for hours.

I worked with SO MANY women during my career who were hateful and abusive, and it really taught me a lot - - mainly, how NOT to treat people!
I now supervise student workers, and I make a point of being a GOOD example to them, to be a good influence, and to encourage them to grow and be the best they can be. When they graduate from this College, I want them to take with them a sense of “I really CAN do it!” - - and be a success in whatever they do in the future.
I wish I had been able to have a good mentor when I was starting on my career path . . . *sigh* . . . oh well.

I don’t know if slashdot under your posts is a new thing or if I’m just now noticing it. Hmmm.
I’d love to have a mentor. I’m a child of a very dysfunctional mother who has done little to teach me the way of the business world. SHe really was just a poor example overall about life in general. I’ve had some great business ideas, but not really known how to proceed. I think you have planted a seed and I should look for a mentor. Thanks!
