Haiku Friday - Most Boring Day Ever

Published by Ree at 9:03 pm under Haiku Friday, random thoughts

A Day and a Post
Both filled with nothing at all
Except randomness.

Quiet has reigned here.
I would have slept on my desk
Except it is wood.

A special email
And a haiku that she wrote
did brighten my day.

But other than that
there is nothing happening
in the Hot household.

As much as I bitch about stupidity and the craziness that surrounds me on a daily basis, today was bor-ing.

(I have just completely jinxed it by typing that, you realize? Okay, so long as we’re on the same page here!)

So randomness - I haz it.

  • The other day, some asshat decided to steal money out of our checking account using Mr. Hot’s debit card. We have two suspects. We have filed a police report. We have canceled the card and the bank has started its investigation. We should have our money back in 7-10 business days…because I can say, with 100% certainty, that I did not get a first-class ticket on Malaysian Airlines for my birthday….although that’s what Mr. Hot’s debit card paid for. I cannot even begin to express how many different ways I’ve thought about dismembering this prick. Believe me, his prick would be one of the first, um, removals.
  • The past few days, around lunchtime, the woman who lives in the house across the street comes home. A few minutes later, a van pulls up and parks on the road in front of her house. A man gets out and goes into the house with her. He stays for about an hour, and then leaves. Sometimes, afterwards, she leaves, too. Sometimes she doesn’t. As far as I can tell, her husband (who is not the man who comes over at lunchtime) is there on a regular basis - walking the dog, taking the boys for bike rides, cutting the grass - although not when the mysterious van is there. I can’t figure out whether the husband is still living in the house. I’m guessing if he is, he won’t be for long. (Yes, this is what happens when you sit at a desk looking out over your street for 8 or 9 hours every day.)

The view:

desk.jpg

Hey, you’d wonder too if you sat in front of this window 9 hours/day.

  • The cable that connects my camera to my laptop is the same kind of cable that connects my Blackberry to my laptop. Since I’ve discovered that, my life has been much easier because I’m not staring at two cables trying to figure out which one is which. It also saves me walking downstairs and back up when I decide to take a random picture of the house across the street… the one I sit and look at all day long.
  • The plan for this evening involves driving several miles down the road to watch cars go straight, really fast, for a quarter-mile. The things I do for the testosterone laden members of this house will never cease to amaze me. Therefore, on Sunday, NO ONE better wake me up before Noon unless it’s to open a present, drink champagne, or feed me peeled grapes. And chocolate. The good stuff, not the cheap kind. Take note all penis-bearing members of this house. You have been warned.
  • I’ve been watching three rabbits chase each other around the yard. They play leapfrog; they play hide-and-seek. There are finches that fly by, their bright yellow bodies zipping through the air and past my window. I can hear Poopy the Puppy downstairs, whining to try and get out into the yard, because, “Mom. Mom. Mom. Want to play wit teh bunnehs. Mom. Mom. Come let me out.” Were it not for that, I could almost make believe that I’m Snow White or Pocahontas surrounded by little forest creatures in a Disney animated film. (Ahahahahahahahahah. snort. Yea, right.)

—- When is it going to be warm enough to open the windows? I think I’m going a bit stir-crazy around here, breathing my own air all the time. —-

It sounds like you could sideline as a PI and take pics of the man entering/leaving, as evidence for the divorce case. Extra $$. Woohoo!

  3. Dingoon 09 May 2008 at 9:53 pm

I’m going to send some of my work over to you. I’ll Fed Ex it, no need to send me your debit card number. I got it from some guy I met on my last trip to Malaysia.

The view out your window could be worse. You could see some dude in his late 60s mowing his lawn… shirtless… with a beer gut… covered in hair… smoking a stogie. That’s the view I get from my front window about every 3 days after the weather warms up.

I’m jealous that you get to go to the races. I have a friend who drag races and I’m waiting for him to come to my side of the state so I can go watch.

You should have told me that Mr. Hot was giving out his debit card number to random people. I’da got in line.

Dammit, I always enter my website as an email address. F’n retard I am.

  6. witchypooon 09 May 2008 at 11:14 pm

Already? Is anybody saying you don’t get out enough? You know if the neighbour man reads your blog, you may be called as a witness in the divorce. I know. I’m a fricking ray of sunshine. Kill me now.

Ummm…bored, much? LOL I believe that has been established. LOL On a bonus note (and possibly to give fodder for a future blog) we got our “The Gov’t is a bunch of Chinese Money taking Dirty Liars” cashflow today, and to celebrate ~ I ate too much chocolate. (I know, this begs the question “Can one truly have too much chocolate?” But I have to tell you, once you have consumed a half a bag of Andes mints ~ you cease to question. LOL)
Hope you had some fun at the races!!

Boring day, huh…? With the little tete-a-tete (sorry about the lack of punctuation) going on across the road, doesn’t sound too boring to me. You should start a neighborhood pool on how soon the ‘For Sale’ sign appears in her front lawn. Or for for how soon across-the-road hubby finds out about the lurking van. Probably will be when he decides to come home early some day to surprise his wife… It’ll be a surprise all right! Or it could be as innocent as one of the toilets over there gets clogged up really easily and she thus needs the daily services of a plumber guy, or some simple shit like that. Yeah, right! How are the tulips doing?

My day was anything but boring… taking down street lamps on campus which are not working for some reason - then take them to the shop for rebuilding; adjusting ceiling tiles in one of the client cottages by half an inch so they don’t look like they are ready to drop to the floor; unclogging a toilet in another cottage, again; changing a ballast in a fluorescent ceiling fixture; re-framing a client’s new picture, using plexiglass instead of glass; helping Naturalist buddy John and his tree-climbing wonder dog, Emily, do the Friday morning Campus Blue Bird nesting survey; participating in an hour-long Alzheimers Dementia simulation experience (and it was a real experience); install a new DVD player in one of the guy client’s rooms in one of the cottages - he was so happy that he know could watch his DVDs - made the whole week for me; changed some air conditioner filters in a couple of campus buildings; and finally, installed a poster on the wall for one of the clients. It hit 85 today and humid, and that constant going in and out of the air conditioning wasn’t the greatest of feelings. Ah but the weekend is here, and time for something different… Have a good one!

When we moved to our new house a little over a year ago, I was amazed to see goldfinches in my back yard! They are so beautiful and fun to watch!

Then, a couple of months ago, I woke up hearing a couple of owls in the big apple tree right outside our bedroom window. Turns out we have a couple of Great Northern Hoot Owls roosting here.

And, we have yard bunnies galore - - and I have one cat who is frantically wanting outside to play with them (my cats do NOT go out - - ever!) and one cat who just plain doesn’t give a damn about them! Total opposites, yes they are . . .

Hope the drag races were good - - Dear Hubby is an NHRA fanatic, and he will be so jealous when I tell him about your little jaunt! :-)

You are the only one I know who can take “a boring day” and make me laugh. I think you might have the right idea of opening the windows. Maybe then you’ll be able to hear what the neighbors are saying as they enter and leave. Hey, this could be your new job - a Private Eye! Something to think about.

  14. RCon 10 May 2008 at 4:12 am

I’m so lovin’ the story on the neighbors. You’ll have to keep us informed on that one!

What? It’s still not warm enough there to open the windows? Me thinks you need to move to The South, darling.

Also, how freaky about the affair across the street. I mean, I know that stuff goes on all the time… but I think it would be very disconcerting to witness it.

that would be something i would do, watching what people do.
how did anyone get your debit card number…? never mind on answering that, just rhetorical.
my husband once accidentally typed out his SS NO on a google page when it asked for it, he was v. tired and i totally see how he did that. it was someone pretending to be from google and the website that came up looked just like google, saying we were having a problem with our acct. etc etc. we’ve been through identity theft. not fun but fortunately we are too poor.
hmm, i have a young girl in my apt. complex who comes out on sunny days, dressed like…eh, a v. bad 1980s street hooker, and she’s plump and everything is tight. beautiful looking girl. and she walks slowly around the lot and i see her talking to a guy in a van who obviously trying to be discrete.
i’d report it but i feel for the girl. she should be in college. sad. i totally think she is like eh…a working girl…in really bad clothes, ha.
