Dream Day
My friend Nancy, over at Marie Millard asked a great “make you think” question today.
If you had one day, 24 hours to do anything you wanted, use your imagination, anything … by yourself, for yourself, only you and you alone.
Nobody would ever know what you did.
Nobody would ever see how you spent those 24 hours.
This is time just for you, alone.
What would you do that would make you smile and go “ah-hhhhh” just before your head hit the pillow in the last minute of those 24 hours?
I can only dream about having this kind of day - and I would also assume that money was no object. But! If I could…
I would wake up around 8 am. It’s the perfect time of the morning for me - it feels like luxuriously sleeping in without wasting precious time. I would go out onto the beach (I’m someplace with white sand, the ocean and sunshine) and sit with my coffee and chocolate muffin (calories absolutely don’t count in a fantasy) and read - but just for a couple of hours. Then I’d walk - I’d walk through the sand, feeling it warm between my toes, out to the marketplace. I’d browse through the fruit stalls, picking the perfect specimens of whatever I felt like eating that day. I’d stop and get a beautiful piece of fish for my lunch.
Another part of this fantasy - (I mean, let’s get serious, it would have to be a fantasy) - is that I would know how to prepare this food. The fish would be flaky and tender and perfectly seasoned. A chilled, crisp glass of Pinot Grigio and a small but potent piece of the darkest dark chocolate for dessert would lead to a small siesta - in the chaise overlooking the water.
Then I’d saddle my horse and ride. Freedom on horseback. Time to daydream and meditate. Time to enjoy the silence of being alone. I’d pack a light dinner - cheese and fruit, and a bottle of champagne - find someplace to watch the sunset and eat - and then ride back, under the stars. Back to my bed, with the 2000-count sheets and the fluffy duvet…
and ahhhhhh.
A lot of my own personal fantasies are centered around being alone. Totally and completely alone for more than 30 minutes here and there. (Considering that right now, I hear “Mississippi Queen” on Guitar Hero going; a basketball bouncing outside my window, the boy cat meowing in his Siamese voice, and voices coming out of Shortman’s headphones on the other desk, I’m sure that “alone” as a fantasy just surprises the hell out of you, doesn’t it? Snort.)
So, go check out Nancy and see who else decided to let you in on their secret day alone.
It’s also getting towards the end of the month, so I’m going to thank my new commenters for the month of May.

I cannot even imagine what I would do with a fantasy 24 hours, which is just so sad.

Ooohhh - new blogs to stalk visit. Whoo hooo!
24 hours to do anything I want? Hmmm… well… Hmmmm…
Problem is most things I want involve inordinate amounts of shoes, shopping, ice coffee, cocktails and Philly. Ummm.. With that, I think I’ll behave and stop with my 24 hour fantasy.
Lys’s last blog post..Philly,This About Sums It Up…
That sounds totally doable you know.
In order to do the things I’d want to do in my fantasies I’d need a personality transplant. I’m way too inhibited IRL.
Memarie Lane’s last blog post..My poor nerves!
I’m totally w/ you in agreement on that fantasy thing.. Somehow from the breakfast and reading part..walking to the market is not an issue.. carrying a bag and stuff..I like that alot..cause you know you are pretty much telling my Aruba story there..
Somewhere though before the head hits the pillow I think there needs to be a MIND blowing orgasm..don’t you?
mp’s last blog post..SWAGALICIOUS!!
I’m cute!!! I’m cute!!! Ok, if you say so. lol
Plus, I’ll talk dirty to you. I’m sweaty (not all of it is mine either….. some of it is the horses! lol), dusty, maybe more like DIRTY from finishing up my day.

Derrr…
Kelley’s last blog post..Better than sex.
Well, this isn’t too much of a fantasy for me because I am often alone for 24 hours at a time and do whatever I want (including sleeping in and going to the beach.) I know….don’t hate me because I’m beautiful!
But….to make it a fantasy 24 hours *alone*…I would have to have secretly won the lottery. Then I would go shopping and buy super extravagant surprise presents for my family. I would have to have a limo to take me around for all this shopping. (Hmmm…..does that still count as being *alone*?) After the shopping, I’d get on the internet and start planning a road trip. Only, this time, instead of reserving dive motels, I could reserve luxury hotels! After all that, I’d probably be ready for bed….in my new king size bed with a thousand pillows and the best sheets in the world!
But, really, this would be a much better fantasy if I could also include sharing that time with my Love.
Thank you so much for the mention and link and all that shit! I was just having a pity party for myself cause blogging was such a crazy chore today and I’m mad at Wordpress for eating my post…(mumble, mumble), and you just made me feel so much better!
My only worry about your fantasy is that after riding a horse your champagne might be a bit….well, dangerous to open. If indeed there were any bubbles left at all. Just a thought.
In my fantasy I would be totally computer savvy and know how to fix all my own Wordpress problems. (em-effers!)
Krissa’s last blog post..NOT just a lame excuse.
I would tap dance.
Well.
Now off to visit your “hot list”
Have a lovely weekend.
Jenny’s last blog post..My Week
Thanks for including my site, I very much appreciate it!!
If I had my own 24 fantasy hours…well gee, the only time I get that is when I run myself down health-wise and then make my chili pepper soup and give myself permission to (get this!) actually sleep. Come to think of it, sleeping normal hours can be quite the fantasy (I’m currently up right now at 2:45am.
.
Best wishes,
Barbara

The line about having to know how to prepare this food made me laugh out loud. I would, too.
Shelly’s last blog post..Awesome. Not Awesome
I LOVE having all alone time… I love it even more since I don’t have it very often at all now with my *17* being home most of the time as he only spends two and a half hours twice a week in the computer lab for school work. Including the bus time, I get a whole 3 hours two days a week totally alone in the house. I relish every second of it. Hub doesn’t get it. He doesn’t get why anyone would WANT to just be alone once in awhile. I think he’s got *issues*, lol. He just thinks I am the weird one.
flutterby’s last blog post..Madly in love…
24 Hours? To myself? Oh Lord. I would have to assume that I will be spending those blissful hours someplace other than the disaster that is my apartment or I would spend those hours cleaning. And I’d need every single second.
But if I could spend it at a mountain cabin by a river, I’d read, sleep, eat, play with Dingo Girl (I can go without people but I can’t give up Dingo Girl), go for long walks, farmers market, make best salad ever with homemade dressing evah, salmon (why do these fantasies always include a fish dinner?), oh my, I think I’m going to need more than 24 hours.
Dingo’s last blog post..In Which I Rant at God and Grease the Skids to Hell
My dream day would definitely include a white sandy beach and an endless drink glass.
Julie’s last blog post..Mid Week Mama Bailey- In which I attempt to study. For Shame!
Wow. I’m so flattered. Thanks for the mention!
So. Without going into too many details… My perfect day would involve a beach, a hot oiled-up massage performed by a couple of gorgeous young a-list movie star hunks, a few cold alcoholic bevies, an amazing meal and sleep. Lots of blissful quiet sleep. Oh yes. In an extremely comfortable bed. Preferably one made of big fluffy clouds. Oh, and it has to smell like fresh baked cookies. Ice cream would be involved in all this too.

When I commented on Nancy’s post, all my thoughts involved large crowds of people at sporting events and lots of alcohol!

Ree, my ideal day sounds a lot like yours except instead of saddling my horse I would straddle my purple Harley and motor down Pacific Coast Highway, leaving a wake of open-mouthed men in their imported sedans and plastic-chested women sitting next to them, pursing their Botoxed lips. Tee hee.
