"Or maybe most Americans just don't know how much of their daily commerce is done with European-owned firms.

The wealth and the spirit of the enterprise that are pushing the European investment in American business reflect a transformation of the business climate that has made the New Europe a key player in the new high-tech economy. You can see and feel this palpable change in any number of university towns--Cambridge, England, or Lund, Sweden, or Tampere, Finland, or Brussels or Munich or Milan--where medieval campuses are finding room for new research laboratories in computing, communication, and biotechnology."

The United States of Europe by T.R. Reid

Thanks for directing me to the longest sentence in the book -- one which has punctuation errors no less. When stringing together a list of items, you typically use commas. However, semi-colons are used when the words between the punctuation pauses include comma breaks. It would also exclude the redundant use of the word "or. Thus, the city list should read: "Cambridge, England; Lund, Sweden; Tampere, Finland; or Brussels or Munich or Milan"

The Time Traveler's Wife is one of my most favorite books. It might be at the top of the list. I cannot wait for the movie!

Oh that is such a great book! I loved it.

I won't do this because the books I am reading right now are all cookbooks, so they wouldn't be very interesting.

Oh, and I have to make some more lemonade for this weekend....

OH - I should play too...wait a sec...Closest book is <i>Dragonsbane</i> by Barbara Hambly which is one of The Husband's favourites (I'm not as sci-fi as I could be)

<i>"Ah" Said Miss Mab, and reaching out, took Jenny's small, scratched, boyish brown hands in her own. For a long moment she looked into her eyes. As if the small, cold fingers clasping hers stirred the jewel heap of her dreams, Jenny felt the gnome woman's mind probing at her thoughts, as she had probed Gareth's, seeking to see the shape of her essence."</i>

Of course I choose a book by a comma fetishist.

I'm one of the few who really didn't like that book. I'm a sucker for a HEA, and that one was a bit icky.

I'm going to peek at twitter now.

Hmmm...Nearest book? Like, a "real" book? And not a "kid's" book? LOL

That would be a copy of the Collected works of Jane Austen.
pg 123 is from Sense and Sensibility

"It is a melancholy consideration. Born to the prospect of such affluence! I cannot conceive a situation more deplorable."

I LOVES me some Jane Austen!

I don't have a blog, so sentences here:
"Dukes of Truth and Loss are most often changelings who did not hesitate to kill their fetch after they found that it had been living their life. These Lost see the removal of fetches as a useful service for both the people abducted by the fae and their families back in the mortal world. A few members of this order are instead changelings who either had no fetch or found that killing it was either impossible or irrelevant."

From Lords of Summer, by Stephen DiPesa, Jess Hartley, Malcolm Sheppard, John Snead, and Charles Wendig.
It's a sourcebook for the role-playing-game Changeling: The Lost.
