and no christmas? Is it against her religion or something? in-laws are naturalized canadians and born irish and they do christmas .

That is so weird about your Canadian sis-in-law… I think I have been brainwashed into believing that all Canadians are angels in disguise and only cuss like sailors to throw you off the scent.

I’m feeling pretty damn lucky right now but kudos to you for not making yourself miserable during the holidays. I am a firm believer that 99% of the holiday stress people feel would be alleviated by not spending time with those we think we SHOULD spend time with instead of those we WANT to spend time with.

Life is just too short.

You are not alone. I have a sister, whom I almost never speak to and almost certainly don’t like to talk about. She was ruined by my Grandparents. And she has become one of those women with the kind of voice that says “I’m talking nicely to you but really, I think you’re dirt”. She’s a Realtor. ‘Nuff said. On those rare occasions I DO refer to her, I call her “Rosie Rotten Crotch”. Because I can be mean, too.
