That is a fascinating story! How truly bizarre. I know I tease my husband because we can't seem to travel anywhere in the United States without him knowing someone, but it really is weird when it happens.

What a funny story! When I was in college, my dad (who lives in NC) called his phone company with a question about his phone bill. After giving his name and account information, the young guy on the other end of the line told him he was going to have to transfer him to a supervisor. Puzzled, my dad asked him if there was a problem with his account. The guy told him, no, there was no problem, but that the company would not permit them to assist family members with their accounts. Completely baffled, my dad asked him who he was. He was my cousin on my mom's side - my dad's ex-wife's nephew, who lives in New Mexico.

What an amazing story. The world truly is a small place.

About 20 years ago, my then-boyfriend/now-husband graduated from college and traveled to Europe with his brother. While on the ferry from England to France, my future brother-in-law was wearing one of my husband's college t-shirts. A young American woman came up to my BIL and said, "Oh, did you go to UVA?" He responded that no, he did not but that his brother did. Pete got in on the action and after talking, it came out that the woman went to UVA too and had also just graduated. AND, she was from my home town and my high school. Yes, I knew her. On the very same day, across the Atlantic, I ran into the woman's younger brother on campus -- the first time I'd seen him in a few years.

The world is a very small place indeed.
