Back on the road again

Published by Ree at 8:00 am under Stitch and Bitch

Oh mah holy hell. What happened to that time at home? It was another 4 a.m. wakeup this morning, another trip to the airport (in the snow, BONUS!), and another plane ride on the back of a sparrow. We were only delayed by about 5 minutes due to the whole de-icing thingie, which was good. Security was relatively painless, considering that this was the most recent news from Detroit Metro.

But, all of that traveling ease doesn’t mean that getting up at early-butt-crack in the morning makes working all day fun. Nor does it mean that I have the energy to write a witty post this evening. So, in lieu of words, I give you pics of that cowl that I knitted as my first attempt at using circular needles.

I used Caron’s Simply Soft Gray Heather.

Don’t look at the man hands.

It came out a lot better than I expected. Of course, I’m not showing what I’m considering “the back” because really? I don’t think there was supposed to be holes. Snirk.

Will I make another? Yes. These things come in handy. And – I live in the frozen part of the country, remember? Oh, yea. And I’m moving to an even more frozen part. AND! as a matter of fact, I have said (repeatedly) WTF??? about that nifty little decision. It’s not like I actually like snow.

Annnywayyyyy.

That’s my cowl. It was fun. I didn’t screw it up too badly.

—- And now, Dr. House and I have a date. Shortman bought Santa brought me Season 1 on DVD and I’m halfway through the pilot episode. My laptop may be going to bed with me. —-

The traveling thing? I don’t know how you do it.

The cowl looks great! I have just taken up knitting and I am definitely not ready for circular needles yet.

The cowl looks great! And I agree – coming back to work this week has sucked! I say we protest.

I would much rather be at home knitting. Seriously, this work stuff sucks. I can’t imagine having to actually FLY before beginning work on Monday morning.

    Cheers!

Nice cowl! I don’t envy you one bit–bitter cold weather AND air travel–that’s pretty hellish.

That is what I should make… And mittens. And socks. And leg-warmers. And a hat. And a sweater. And a blanket. And… Oh, I give up! Freezing my tuchus off plenty, here and I can’t knit. Or crochet. And maybe that isn’t a bad thing since I would never finish what I started.

Now that you are moving closer (just slightly), the possibility exists to meet in person, someday…

I’m with Tuli…about the work sucking but it would suck more if I had to FLY IN AN AIRPLANE(which I hate) to work(which I am hating too).

I can’t knit, but it looks like a calming activity. The cowl looks beautiful and so soft; I love the color. I like your glasses frames, too; I just bought some new glasses myself, but I’m “Meh” about the frame style.

    HEY, I have an idea!!!

Move out to California! No snow, really (unless you move up into some old mountain ridge), lots of cool people (including yours truly), and (tadah!) … it’ll always be TWO HOURS EARLIER here than in Chicago.

If that last one doesn’t seal the deal, I don’t know what will.

When you say your laptop may be going to bed with you, do you really mean Dr. House?

“My laptop may be going to bed with me…” is that a euphamism of some sort? ;)

i love the color you picked but what in the world is a cowl…i mean i’ve heard the term, is it supposed to just hang around your neck like that?? circular needles sound scary. i’d love to knit, it sounds like a fun constructive and relaxing time. to create with your hands is always good. but i like the work you did, wow.
