My favorite story so far. I moved to Bozeman in 1988 to attend Montana State and almost skiied myself into the poor house that first year. Still in Bozeman but don’t ski anymore. I ride snowmobiles now. I would love you to see Big Sky today compared to 1987. It isn’t even close to the same place you visited those many moons ago.

I started skiing at age 10. Skied until I had children then took a 10 year break. Once my sons got to the age where they wanted to give it try, we all started again. It turned out to be a life altering event — my oldest son is the buyer for the biggest snowboard/surf shot west of the Mississippi. Since our kids have grown up we have put away the skis…it just isn’t as much fun when you don’t have yours sons to hang out with. Oldest grandson is learning to snowboard…might have to pull the equipment out of storage I guess.

My brother, SIL and nephew are avid snowboarders and since they just moved back to the states to New Mexico they have been several times.
I have to laugh at my nephew and call him Eurotrash since he got to go snowboarding in the Swiss Alps all the time in Europe and tends to be a little bit of a snob about the snow conditions in New Mexico. He’s 10!

There are two reasons why I don’t ski. Two very good reasons.
1. It has to be cold.
2. There has to be snow.
Those are two dirty little four-letter words that I absolutely hate.

Therefore, I don’t ski – - but would LOVE to be in a lodge in front of a warm fire, sipping hot toddies . . . mmmmm . . .

Yikes, do you know how lucky you are to have escaped skiing intact?! My sister took the same sort of tumble that you took in Jackson Hole, but one of her knees twisted with the ski. She has a ginormihorrific size scar on her knee to prove it. Which is why I never took up skiing myself, and I don’t understand the attraction either.

I went skiing once, and I hated it so much that after about half an hour, I put down my skis and poles, sat down and started making a snowman.
